I'm Sam Hansen. I am down-to-earth, caring, and a go-getter. I think on my feet and rise up to the challenges life throws my way. I am curious by nature and love discovering new things about myself, and the world around me. I march to the beat of my own drum and challenge the status quo. Originally an island girl (P.E.I. that is!)

I have been calling Nelson, BC home for nine years and have been a birth doula for four years. I absolutely love helping families through their transition into parenthood. I especially love helping women or birthing people find their confidence and inner wisdom as it relates to birth and motherhood. 

In my spare time, I love swimming in Kootenay Lake, soaking at Ainsworth Hot Springs or hanging out at home reading one of the many books I have on the go. I also love exploring the mountains with my husband, daughter and fur baby. Occasionally, I enjoy travelling to the ocean to reunite with the salt water and loved ones.

I have a B.Sc. in Biology, from St. Francis Xavier University. St. FX is one of Canada's top undergraduate universities and prides itself in creating world leaders. Four years ago I received my Holistic Doula training from North America's most comprehensive program at Pacific Rim College in Victoria, B.C. The program only accepts 14 students per year and is absoluately amazing! My education gave me the skills and confidence to pursue my career as a Holistic Doula based out of Nelson, BC. Recently I added another fun tool to my toolbox and received my Jikiden Reiki Shoden level certificate for healing taught by Amanda Jayne.
